Alberta Canada Day 2010
Canada Day, formerly Dominion Day, is Canada's national day, a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the 1 July 1867 enactment of the British North America Act, which united two British colonies and a province of the British Empire into a single country called Canada.
July 1 holiday was established by statute in 1879, under the name Dominion Day.
The Town of Banff in the middle of the majestic Canadian Rockies is the perfect place to celebrate Canada's birthday on July 1st of each year.
A typical Canada Day starts off with a pancake breakfast at Canada Place hosted by Parks Canada. Entertainment starts back downtown at Central Park with all day entertainment on the Louis Trono Gazebo and Stampede stages.
The 2010 Parade runs the length of Banff Avenue starting promptly at 5:00 p.m. After the parade, head back to Central Park for an evening of great entertainment. Performances run until 11:00 P.M. when the day’s events end with our always spectacular fireworks show.
Remember that entry into Banff National Park is free on July 1st.

August Long Weekend Alberta 2010
Heritage Day is celebrated the first Monday in August in Alberta. Monday, August 2, 2010
In Alberta, Heritage Day is an "optional" civil holiday, having been downgraded from a statutory holiday following the introduction of Family Day in 1990.
August long weekend is probably the busiest weekend at many hotels, resorts, campgrounds and on the highway. We highly recommend making advance reservations.
It is a great weekend for camping, hiking, mountain biking, boating, rafting, kayaking, fishing, playing summer sports like beach volleyball, etc.
Banks, schools, government offices and many businesses are closed. Service industries, shopping malls, restaurants and tourist attractions remain open.

In addition, the airshow also features a wide variety of rotary and fixed wing aircraft. Galli confirmed many aircraft will be parked on the ramp for visitors to look at prior to the evening show.
Because of the heavy crowds, the event organizers usually have a shuttle bus service that leaves from the Rocky arena complex. This helps keep parking problems at the airport to a minimum. Gates open for the Airshow August 11 at the Rocky Airport at 1 p.m. The show usually starts about 5 p.m.

Chinese New Year's Eve is known as chú xī. It literally means "Year-pass Eve". Saint Patrick's Day (Irish: Lá Fhéile Pádraig) is a religious holiday on the 17th of March. It is named after Saint Patrick (circa AD 387–461), the most commonly recognised of the patron saints of Ireland. It began as a purely Catholic holiday and became an official feast day in the early 17th century. It has gradually become more of a secular celebration of Ireland's culture.
It is a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Newfoundland and Labrador

Victoria Day, colloquially known as May Long Weekend, is a federal Canadian statutory holiday celebrated on the last Monday before or on 24 May, in honour of both Queen Victoria's birthday.
Victoria Day serves as the unofficial marker of the end of the winter social season, and thus the beginning of the summer social calendar.
Ski resorts usually close on or before the May long weekend. Goat’s Eye mountain will remain open until the May long weekend 2011, thanks to the best snow conditions at Sunshine Village in 41 years.
It is during this long weekend that many summer businesses — such as parks, outdoor restaurants, bicycle rentals, city tour operators, etc. will open.

This dramatic portrayal of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ in an acoustically superb natural bowl amphitheatre will make you feel like you are actually there. The scripture-based script and music, realistic set and costumes, quality performances and remarkable similarity of the site to the Holy Land all add to the experience.

The North Face Canadian Death Race
August Long Weekend: July 30 - 1 August 2011
Grande Cache, Alberta
Since the start of the millennium, elite racers have come to the Canadian Rockies to cheat Death in one of the world's toughest adventure races. The 125 km course begins and ends on a 4200 foot plateau, passes over three mountain summits and includes 17,000 feet of elevation change and a major river crossing at the spectacular Hell's Gate canyon at the confluence of the Smoky and Sulphur Rivers. During the August long weekend each year, extreme athletes, individually and in relays, push themselves to the limits of their endurance against the breathtaking background of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Each year, well-trained and totally committed, they battle heat, cold, altitude and themselves. There are no big prizes for winning: finishing is hard enough. And the bragging rights are priceless…

Heritage Day is celebrated the first Monday in August in Alberta. Monday, August 1, 2011

The Mountain View Music Fest is a family based, 3-day festival in the Town of Carstairs, providing the citizens of the Mountain View County and outlying rural farming communities the opportunity to come together to appreciate talents in the areas of music, dance, crafts and visual arts.
This annual event is to help showcase Albertan musicians and songwriters, artists and artisans, bring varied professional disciplines of the arts to a more rural audience and contribute to the positive dynamics of our community by promoting public participation and co-operation.
Ours is an event that showcases small town hospitality to new residents, those thinking about moving to a smaller community, families who are unable to attend due to financial difficulties, and our more senior residents who cannot access the arts by travelling to large urban centers.
The Mountain View Music Fest is devoted to providing a quality, family-basedarts and cultural event in a safe, friendly environment.

October 25-29: 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. start times

You will discover that the old, crossed-log museum walls protect many hidden secrets. A Christmas Musical
It's Christmas in New York, but Jim and Della are out of work and penniless. In the desire to give each other something meaningful, they give away more than expected. This classic story is framed by a host of characters who scurry through the streets preparing for Christmas, including a paperboy and an old bum who is not above doing something illegal in order to spend a few nights in a warm jail.
